Cotton Yarn Raw Material Production

Cotton yarn production starts with high-quality raw materials, and the entire process of raw material processing is crucial to determining the final quality of the yarn. From the selection of cotton fibers to the preliminary processing into usable semi-finished products, every link requires strict control to ensure the stability, strength and uniformity of the subsequent yarn production.

The core raw material of cotton yarn is cotton fiber, which is mainly derived from the lint of cotton bolls after harvesting. The selection of cotton fiber is the first key step: factors such as fiber length, strength, fineness, uniformity and trash content directly affect the spinning effect and yarn quality. Longer fibers can produce stronger and smoother yarns, while appropriate fineness and maturity ensure processing efficiency and dyeing performance of the yarn later. Currently, high-volume instrument (HVI) technology is widely used in the industry to accurately detect these indicators, ensuring the consistency and reliability of raw material selection.

After selecting high-quality cotton, the raw material needs to go through a series of preliminary processing procedures, namely opening and cleaning, carding, and drawing, to turn loose cotton into uniform sliver suitable for spinning. In the opening and cleaning stage, the cotton is gradually loosened, and impurities such as leaves and debris are removed, while achieving uniform mixing of cotton from different batches. The principle of this stage is to adopt gradual opening and free striking to minimize fiber damage while maximizing impurity removal.
