What is the difference between cotton yarn and pure cotton?

1. Raw material differences

Cotton yarn is made from cotton fibers through a spinning process, while pure cotton refers to materials directly composed of cotton fibers.

2. Physical property differences

Cotton yarn typically has higher strength and abrasion resistance because it is made from processed cotton fibers. Pure cotton is favored for its excellent breathability, moisture-wicking properties, and softness, making it suitable for making undergarments and home textiles.

3. Application areas

Cotton yarn is commonly used to make various knitted and textile products, such as socks and sweaters. Pure cotton is widely used to make towels, bed sheets, T-shirts, and other daily necessities.

4. Production Process of Cotton Yarn

Cotton yarn can be categorized into combed yarn and carded yarn based on different production processes. Carded yarn is produced using conventional spinning techniques, while combed yarn is made from high-quality raw materials. The fibers in combed yarn are straighter, more parallel, contain fewer impurities, have better luster, more uniform yarn structure, and higher strength. This type of cotton yarn is primarily used for weaving high-quality fabrics.
