Cotton yarn is a type of yarn produced through the spinning process of cotton fibers. After being twisted together, it is referred to as cotton thread. Depending on the spinning process used, it can be classified into combed yarn and carded yarn. (1) Carded yarn: This is yarn produced using cotton fibers processed through a standard spinning system. (2) Combed yarn: This is yarn produced using cotton fibers processed through a combing spinning system. Combed yarn is made from high-quality raw materials, resulting in yarn with straight, parallel fibers, fewer knots and impurities, good luster, even yarn count, and high strength. This type of cotton yarn is primarily used for weaving high-quality fabrics.
(二)Applications
Cotton yarn has a wide range of applications. It can be used as weaving yarn for items such as bed sheets, pillowcases, curtains, and other home textile products. It can also be used as knitting yarn, especially combed yarn, which is suitable for producing high-quality textiles such as high-end T-shirts and fine-count poplin. Cotton yarn can also be used to produce special industrial materials such as electrical yellow wax cloth, tire cord fabric, high-speed sewing thread, and embroidery thread.
(三)Types:
(1) Classification by fiber raw material of the yarn
1. Pure spun yarn: Yarn made from a single type of fiber raw material.
2. Blended yarn: Yarn spun from two or more types of fibers mixed together.
3. Blended filament yarn: Yarn formed by combining two or more types of filament fibers with different properties or appearances.
(2) Classification by fiber state in yarn
1. Short-fiber yarn: Yarn made by twisting short fibers of a certain length through various spinning systems.
2. Filament yarn: Yarn composed of single or multiple filaments.
Single-filament yarn: Filament yarn composed of a single filament.
Multi-filament yarn: Yarn composed of multiple filaments.
(3) Classification by spinning process
1. Regular cotton yarn and combed cotton yarn:
2. Fine-spun wool yarn and coarse-spun wool yarn
(4) Classification by yarn structure
1. Simple yarn
(1) Single yarn: Yarn formed by twisting a single fiber bundle.
(2) Strand yarn: A yarn formed by twisting two or more single yarns together.
(3) Multi-strand yarn: A yarn formed by twisting two or more strand yarns together.
2. Complex yarns: Yarns with complex structures and unique appearances, such as fancy yarns, core-spun yarns, and wrapped yarns.
(5) Classification by yarn finishing
1. Mercerized yarn: Cotton yarn that has undergone mercerization.
2. Singed yarn: Yarn that has undergone singeing processing.
3. Natural yarn: Also known as raw yarn, it is yarn that has not undergone bleaching or dyeing processing.
4. Dyed yarn: Yarn made through boiling and dyeing processing.
5. Bleached yarn: Yarn made through boiling and bleaching processing.
